Our Story
Wood Street Bakery Interior

Founded by pastry chef Jennifer Moseley, Wood Street Bakery started during lockdown in 2020 when she began making pastries and cakes in her small home kitchen to hand deliver to neighbours via bicycle every Saturday morning to spread a little joy during a difficult time. Word spread and soon the bakes were selling out faster than she could make them.

At the same time the iconic Percy Ingle closed down it's 48 bakery sites, including the one on Wood Street. We grew up with Percy Ingle on our doorstep and saw this as an opportunity to reinvigorate this neighbourhood bakery. We put an offer in, then set to work renovating the derelict space.


Our bricks and mortar site Wood Street Bakery & Cafe finally opened it's doors in August 2021 and has been welcoming in our customers, neighbours & friends with lots of freshly baked pastries and delicious coffee ever since.

We use the best quality ingredients and are proud to work with small, independent suppliers - chocolate from Land (made in Hackney), Cornish St. Ewe eggs, The Estate Dairy cultured butter from Somerset and Shipton Mill flour. Drinks are made with Wood Street Coffee and Good & Proper Tea with Estate Dairy Milk or gluten free Glebe Farm Oat Milk (and we don't charge extra for alternative milk). We also supply sourdough loaves from our friends down the road at Wild Grains, everything else is made by us every day.


Stop in for pastries, coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea to have in or take away. We always try to have something on offer for everyone - vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. Take a look at our regularly updated online menu.
